Grant Information for Music Teachers of the Lehigh Valley

The Friends of Music is an independent 501c3 organization founded in 1928. We work in partnership with the Moravian College Music Department to encourage music students by providing opportunities for public performance, and to foster growth and confidence. We promote a mutually beneficial association among music teachers, students and music lovers to encourage the enjoyment of music.

Each year, because of the generosity of our donors, we provide the following Grants:

  • Outstanding Young Artist: In the winter of each year, we hold a competition for young musicians under the age of 19 who live or study in the Lehigh Valley. The winners of the competition perform in April-May at the annual public recital and receive a monetary award. For more information contact Sara George at: sgeorge@cscinc.org.
  • School Grants: We provide grants to the music programs of local Lehigh Valley schools that will help purchase equipment, instruments, sheet music and other items needed in the education of students.

Partnership with Moravian College Music Department: The Friends of Music is pleased to work in partnership with the Moravian College Music Department to encourage and simulate students of music. The department provides in kind support for our programming, but no financial support. We rely, as we always have on contributions from community donors who understand the importance of music to the education of youth and the quality of life in our community. Friends is an independent 501c3 not for profit with its own board of directors.

Information: For general information on the Friends of Music or how music educators can help further our mission please check the other pages of this site or contact the President of the Board, Lynnie Godfrey at snoqu@aol.com.
