Outstanding Young Artist Competition

(Winds, Strings, Percussion, Organ, Piano, and Voice)
Application Period: February 1 to February 28, 2021
Recital Date: Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 3:00 PM, Streamed on Friends of Music Facebook Page

The Outstanding Young Artist competition is open to students up to age 19 (instrumental) or 20 (voice). Students must attend school in the Lehigh Valley. The audition video should demonstrate a range of technical skill, rhythm, and tone from a standard classical repertoire. First place winner receives $800; 2nd place, if awarded, receives $400. A Rising Star (student who has been studying only a few years) may be recognized as a promising young artist and awarded $75. 1st and 2nd Place winners must perform a 15 to 20-minute recital to receive their monetary award. The Rising Star must perform one (1) piece of music at the recital to receive their monetary award.

*Decision to select a 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, and/or Rising Star winner, is at the discretion of the judges.*
*Please be advised: beginning for the 2022 competition, auditions will be limited to students in High School and younger.

February 1, 2021 Auditions open with electronic submission. Submissions can be completed via the online application
February 28, 2021 Auditions close
March 15, 2021 All participants notified of the judges' decision, including winner(s)
April 1, 2021 Winner(s) submit recordings of performance, list of pieces to be performed, biography, and photo
April 25, 2021 Recital will be streamed on Friends of Music Facebook Page, beginning at 3pm.  Recital is free and open to the public.
